The new plant will begin production in 2010 and will have the capacity of 60,000 metric tons per year.
Brazil is planning legislation to require their diesel have a mix of 3 percent biodiesel by 2013 and later this will increase to 5 percent biodiesel mix. Argentina plans to exceed Brazil by requiring a mix of 5 percent biodiesel by 2010. Other South American countries plan to follow their lead.
The US needs to speed up the development of algae based biodiesel as well as biodiesel from other biomass sources.
