Benifits of BioDiesel
Biodiesel is the only alternative fuel that can run in any unmodified diesel engine. Biodiesel can be mixed with any ratio of petroleum diesel. The most common blend found on the market is 20% biodiesel with 80% petroleum which is considered “B20” fuel.
The use of biodiesel produces 80% less carbon dioxide emissions and almost 100% less sulfur dioxide when compared to petroleum diesel. Biodiesel provides a 90% reduction in unburned hydrocarbons and an 80% reduction in aromatic hydrocarbons. A significant reduction in particulates and carbon monoxide is further provided.
Biodiesel contains no sulfur and is 11% oxygen by weight. Because biodiesel provides more lubrication than petroleum diesel it extends the life of a diesel engine while providing equal power and consumption.
Biodiesel is biodegradable making it safe to handle and transport. It can be made from domestically produced crops, animal fat and waste vegetable oil.
When burned in a diesel engine the exhaust has a pleasant smell of French fries.
Biodiesel has been successfully proven to be an alternative fuel with 30 million road miles over 20 years of use.
