Denso Tests Heat Pump Air Conditioners using Biodiesel - 6/22/08
Denso is a manufacturer of automobile parts in Kariya, in the Arichi Prefecture of Japan. Denso has started testing industrial heat pump air conditioners using biodiesel fuel. The test will examine the systems compatibility and durability when using biodiesel made from used cooking oil from the company’s cafeterias.
Denso believes using biodiesel to power their heat pump air conditioners will reduce CO2 emissions by 90% compared to using petroleum based kerosene. CO2 emissions are the primary cause of global warming. Heat pump air conditioners that use kerosene as its power source are currently only marketed in Japan.
Denso is reducing its CO2 emissions in all company activities including manufacturing, product development and distribution, reducing the impact on global warming.
Kenji Ohya, senior managing director in charge of sales group at Denso, said: "Denso expects to significantly reduce CO2 emissions from industrial heat pump air conditioners by using biodiesel fuel. We aim to introduce biodiesel engine heat pump air conditioners for industrial use by 2010."
