The French Citroen 2CV Moving into Production - 10/9/08

The French have a car they call Citroen 2CV.  The 2CV is an interesting concept car that features solutions that cut the number of pieces needed to build the dashboard in half and feature a hybrid or all electric powertrains.  Many of these type of concept cars take years to show up on the showroom floor, but in the case of the 2CV it could be on sale in three or four years. 

The 2CV was shown at the Paris Motor Show with an all electric powertrain powered by lithium-ion batteries that last up to 90 miles with a maximum speed of 75 mph. 

The 3CV could also be sold with a hybrid powertrain using a 3 cylinder 70 to 100 hp gasoline engine with an electric motor.
