Electric Hummer? - 4/20/09

FEV, Inc. has partnered with Raser Technologies to develop the Hummer H3 Range-Extended Vehicle (ReEV) which will be unveil at the 2009 SEA World Congress.  The H3 ReEV will be the first vehicle using the Raser’s range-extended electric vehicle technology.

The Hummer H3 ReEV will be the first full sized SUV to be classed as a range-extended electric vehicle.  The Raser technology provides over 40 miles of all electric range and 100+ fuel economy.  FEV provides the electrical and mechanical integration. 

Raser’s 200kW traction motor provides the propulsion and is mated to a 4 speed automatic transmission.  The 2.0L turbocharged engine drives Raser’s 100kW generator.  The design achieves only minimal sacrifice of performance, towing capacity and cargo space.

The vehicle can also provide exportable AC power generation making it great for numerous uses like emergency service vehicles.
