Mitsubishi Now Building their EV - 9/3/09
Mitsubishi is slowly building production examples of the electric iMiEV. The first cars will be going to the Frankfurt Airport in Germany. The airport currently operates 3,000 vehicles in and around the airport. The owner of the airport wants their fleet to have 20 percent battery powered vehicles by 2015. By the end of the decade they want over 60% of their vehicles to be battery powered.
The airport has received only two of the iMiEVs on site. Battery powered vehicles are well suited for airport use because they rarely go very far. The lower speed of the iMiEV is also well suited for the airport. Mitsubishi claims the iMiEV has a range of 100 miles on a full charge. Creating charging points at various terminals will be any easy task.
