Chrysler puts on the "Yellow Cap" Highlighting its Flex-Fuel Cars - 6/14/06
Chrysler Group’s Chief Operating Officer Eric Ridenour said Chrysler is making efforts to highlight its ethanol compatible vehicles.
Chrysler vehicles beginning in 2007 compatible with using both ethanol and gasoline will carry a special badge. Also the gas caps will be painted yellow signifying the vehicle is a flex-fuel vehicle capable to use ethanol.
GM has started a “Live Green, Go Yellow” campaign promoting their ethanol compatible vehicles. Chrysler has sold 1.5 million “flex-fuel” vehicles that can run on either gas or ethanol.
Chrysler’s ethanol-ready vehicles include the Ram, Caravan, Durango, Grand Caravan, Stratus, Town & Country, Sebring and Stratus. They plan to add the Grand Cherokee and Jeep Commander to their ethanol-ready vehicles by 2007.
Ridenour said the next big step is for more gas stations to offer ethanol. Currently only 600 of the 167,000 filling stations in the U.S. offer ethanol.
