Hrein Energy Develops Hydrogen Generators - 9/22/08
Hrein Energy, a small Japanese company has developed tiny hydrogen generators that can be retrofitted to any car. These hydrogen generators are powered by the vehicles hot exhaust gases and dramatically increase fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.
The device uses otherwise wasted heat generated from the vehicles exhaust to convert a chemical into hydrogen gas. This hydrogen gas is then mixed with the air entering the intake manifold of the engine improving the fuel efficiency and reducing emissions by 30 percent.
Removing hydrogen from water currently requires significant amounts of energy. If this energy can be obtained from a sustainable source like vehicle exhaust which is wasted, this could be a tremendous brake through. Hydrogen would normally be transported by high pressure. With the Hrein hydrogen generator the challenge is overcome because it produces the hydrogen gas in the vehicle with water and wasted exhaust heat.
Running a vehicle on hydrogen is nothing new; a conventional engine can run on hydrogen. The first one was developed in 1807.
