BP Declares War on Global Warming - 8/25/06

Britain has come up with a way to for motorists to help overcome global warming.  Target Neutral is a web-based, non-profit way for drivers to support endeavors that cancel out the quantity of carbon dioxide their driving puts in the atmosphere.

The public has wanted to do their part, however many are not clear how.   This system is simple to use and people can still buy their gas from places other than BP (British Petroleum).

People register at www.targetneutral.com.  The way we drive and the vehicle that we drive is factored together to calculate the carbon dioxide that is likely produced over a year.  They then ask for a payment that helps to finance the carbon-neutralizing schemes, such as wind farms in India and biomass plants.

This is being monitored by a green friendly panel that is chaired by Jonathon Porritt, director of Forum for the Future.

The need for awareness and response is becoming more compelling everyday.  Politicians are being urged to look at this seriously and not to put it off until they are no longer in office.

This program will help drivers to understand the need to alter lifestyles and behaviors.

Alternative energy is decades away before any significant reduction to this growing problem occurs.  But now we have the technology to start to cut carbon emissions.
