Global Warming Report Hopes to "Cure" Addiction to Oil - 6/21/06
A new climate change report due to come out in early 2007 is to divulge a link between global warming and fossil fuels. They are hoping to end an addiction to oil.
Environmental catastrophes could happen if these new findings are ignored. It will recap the urgency of trying to “curb fossil fuel emissions from the combustion of oil, natural gas, and coal.” Humans have contributed greatly to this new finding in the last 50 years.
This climate change is being seen in changing rain patterns, rising sea levels, forest fires, extreme weather events, and even the availability of drinking water supplies. They expect people to be amazed at the size and scope of environmental problems that is linked to fossil fuel combustion.
There are multiple studies supporting this and it is getting harder to ignore. Melting polar ice caps and rising sea levels are not being disputed any longer within the science field.
Oil-industry groups deny any connection between fossil fuels and global warming. Recently, a newspaper in the United Kingdom wrote to Exxon Mobil criticizing misleading views of the science of climate change that are in some company documents. They are stating that they are in outright denial of this fact.
Last week, California filed a lawsuit against six top automakers. The suit is for them contributing to global warming through their vehicles. “The impacts are already costing millions of dollars, and the price tag is increasing,” stated California Attorney General Bill Lockyer.
