Siemens Opens Wind Power Components Factory

Siemens Power Generation Inc. opened its first U.S. turbine blade factory in Fort Madison, Iowa, on Sept. 21.
Orlando is the U.S. headquarters for Siemens Power Generation Inc., whose parent company Siemens AG is headquartered in Munich.
The new $28 million, 311,000 sq factory will produce about 600 wind turbine blades per year for wind farms across the United States. The facility produces 148-foot-long, 12-ton blades for wind farms.
The company has hired 220 people in Fort Madison and expects to hire 40 more employees by the end of the year.
Siemens also has wind turbine factories in Engesvang, Denmark and Brande, Aalberg.
